#MondayMemories On Monday, November 6, 2023, Rayne High School Student Council had the honor of hosting 8 schools from around Acadiana for the Louisiana Association of Student Councils District V Fall Leadership Workshop. RHS chose a classic video game theme and decorated the campus accordingly. This year’s headline was “LASC: LEADERSHIP LEVEL 5 UNLOCKED!” Rayne High Student Council President Landon Fontenot also serves as the LASC District V President, while RHS Lead Advisor Theresa Simoneaux has held the position of the District V Advisor for over 10 years. Guest speaker for the day was Mr. Phil Gugliuzzi, LASC Executive Director for the past 55 years. Mr. Phil entertained the crowd of well over 250 student leaders and challenged them to take charge of their dreams. “Some say the world needs more Dreamers. Others proclaim that the world needs more Doers. In fact, however, what this world needs are more Dreamers that DO!” Students enjoyed games and activities that developed their leadership ability such as Electricity, Circle Around, and High Five. After choosing “Who’s At Your Table”, small groups created thank you cards for our Nation’s veterans and exchanged ideas to improve their schools. Delegates enjoyed a delicious spaghetti lunch, and then returned to the North Gym for the final activity of the day, “The Lifeboat” which led to a tribute for the faculty Advisors who lead Student Council. Schools attending included Ascension Episcopal Middle School, Beau Chene High School, David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy, Erath High School, Erath Middle School, Lafayette Christian Academy, Lafayette High School, North Vermilion High School, and Rayne High School.
