This past Saturday, January 28, one of our students, Rylan F., competed at the State VFW - Voice of Democracy essay contest in Alexandria, La. Rylan wrote the essay at RHS in US History class guided by teacher Ms. Brandi Richard. His essay was selected as the District 7 winner and represented District 7 at the state contest. A total of 2,026 essays were entered from across the state of Louisiana. Rylan was one of 10 finalists. Rylan placed 2nd and was awarded a plaque and $200 from the VOD organization.
